Andy's fundraiser
Those of you who have been watching the forums will know about Andy's attempt to raise money for Martin House Hospice for Children and Young People by running the Jane Tomlinson's 10km run in Leeds on June 21st. If any visitor of this site feels inclined to make a contribution to this cause, please click the widget below.JGE Prieview ~ by Pasanda
You have read correctly. Our very own Pasanda was able to get a few flight-hours in Jumpgate Evolution. His write up has been published at: MMORPG.comHands down, the best piece of text I've seen about JGE to date.
New Theme
As you can see, we've completed work on our new theme/skin for the website. It's been a labour of love by Djarid. Although he might call it hard labour trying to please me and my esthetically unsophisticated opinions. :)In the top right you will see 2 coloured buttons. Clicking on these button makes the entire site change into that colour. All three JGE nations are represented, but we'll be using the blue one ofcourse. ;)
Leaves me to thank DJ for providing the code; Zantium for his hard work on the graphics; and Jazz, Elovia, Pasanda & Thrace for providing feedback.
We hope you will enjoy your new surroundings.
Inactivity and Guild-beta
Attention all hands! Our numbers have been increasing steadily over the course of the last few months. While this is a good thing, we are now close to going over our 50 member cap for guild-beta. We've addressed this issue within the council and would now like to present our decisions to the rest of the squad.
While the opportunity of guild-beta might be considered an incentive to join a squad, we do not believe it should be the only reason for people to sign up. That said, we would like to continue offering this possibility for promising new recruits. We jumped into our member database and noticed a number of folks who have dropped from our radar and haven't visited our site in months, some over 6 months. We don't think it's fair to save a spot in guild-beta for these people in favour of people who joined later and might become active participants to our squad's processes. All inactive members have received an email 3 weeks ago where we asked about their whereabouts and intentions for Flaming Pie and JGE. Since we did not receive a reply from everyone, nor seen them on the site we are going to assume they have lost interest in either our squad or the game. Therefore we think it's only fair these people will lose their beta-spot to make room for our new recruits, but they won't be kicked from Flaming Pie. When the game goes live they're still more than welcome to come fly with us if they choose to.
Monitoring activity is something we'll continue to do, so perhaps it's wise to explain what we mean by that. All we ask from our members is to check up on the site regulary and participate in threads they think they can make a meaningfull contribution. We realise not everybody is a forumwhore, and some folks just like to take a back-seat. You won't be judged by postcount, nor will you be in trouble if you go on holiday. But if we haven't seen you in a while, you can expect an email/pm from us, checking up on your current situation.
You will never be removed from the guild-beta without prior notice and getting a chance to get back into action.
**DISCLAIMER** This may very well turn into a moot point if we don't get accpeted into beta as a guild. =)
Website Changes
Djarid is working hard creating features and tools for our website to help us manage the squad in beta and/or after launch. I felt I could not stay behind and I updated the news category images. They no longer feature pirates, but pin-up girls.I have also added a number of smilies, some of which represent our members. I hope you like 'em. Incase you feel your smiley doesn't suit you or you want one of your own, I'm always open for suggestions.
Guild Beta Sign Up
Avast! Ye mateys!I have just added all current members to the Guild Beta Sign Up. So check your email (the address you're using on this site) to sign up as a member of Flaming Pie. We currently have 27 members in guild, so that leaves 23 spots to fill for the maximum beta amount. Let's see whether we can get so many people, shall we? :)
Newsfeed up and running
Just below the nav-bar there should now be a little panel visible that displays all the latest news about JGE. It's been a bit of a chore to get it to work, but the people at php-invent were kind enough to rewrite the infusion as it was a tad buggy. This new panel connects straight to the official newsfeed, so all the news showing on www.jumpgateevolution.com will automatically be parsed here. Nice eh? :)
